Washington’s Birthday

Today was a beautiful day, the weather was warm and the kids played outside for a good deal of it. Missus and I slept in, then I finally kicked the kids outside around eleven or so. I filled in the hole left by the stump grinder and had to haul several wheelbarrow loads of ground wood to the back yard, where I dumped it to fill in some of the low spots.

Our friends the Gs. came by, except for C., who had just deployed for a three month boat tour. Their daughter and Elder are BFFs, and they hadn’t seen each other in a good while, so it was nice to see them. Plus their young son — same age as Younger — was missing his dad so he got some horseplay with me. At one point I had the four of them upstairs singing Let It Go during my horrible piano rendition. It was cute. They did GoNoodle and we watched Mo Willems shorts on the tube.

I downloaded the new Ghostbusters movie and we watched it this evening and ate pizza for dinner. It wasn’t great. I’m not big on this type of nostalgia, especially with the CGI ghost of Harold Ramis, it was a bit cringe.
